Sunsets!
"Opacarophile" (n.) A person who loves sunsets. A sunset carries a deep, reflective significance, symbolizing the close of a day filled with effort, patience, and connection to nature. As the sun dips below the horizon, casting warm hues across the water, it paints a picture of quiet accomplishment and peace. The fisherman, silhouetted against the fading light, represents the timeless bond between human life and the lake—a relationship built on trust, humility, and respect. This moment of stillness and beauty speaks to the rhythm of life, where each day’s end brings rest, gratitude, and the promise of renewal. Ludington sunsets are some of the best! My favorite places to catch sunsets: Stearns Beach, Loomis Street boat Launch, Peter Pan Land, and in a boat on Lake Michigan.

Sunrises!
"Aurophile" (n.) A sunrise lover. A sunrise holds a quiet, powerful significance, symbolizing the harmony between human life and nature’s rhythms. As the first light breaks across the water, it marks not just the start of a new day, but a fresh opportunity—a daily renewal of hope, labor, and connection to the earth. The fisherman, trolling into Lake Michigan, embodies patience, perseverance, and respect for the lake's gifts. This serene moment captures a timeless ritual, where nature’s beauty and human effort meet in silent understanding beneath the rising sun.

Pull Hard!
Boats don't always just name themselves! After fishing out of the 21 foot Starcraft Islander "Hawkeye" for 21 years, it was clear we needed a new name for the new boat. I'm guessing there were over 30 options on the dry erase board in the condo kitchen - all would have been forced. One night we walked into The Grand! The maintenance guys at The Grand are not too quick at fixing things around there - perhaps they're too busy cooking? Back in 2017, luckily for Matt, Scotty and myself, the men's bathroom doorknob was broken (still is!). Josh kindly wrote a note "Pull Hard" and taped it to the door - thank God, or we would have never figured that one out! Thank you, Josh, for donating your handwriting and giving us the idea for the boat name!
