We had Corey, Delaney, Emerison & Katie (1st timer) out today. We were going to enter the Detroit Steelheader’s tournament but decided we’d rather run 15 lines than the 9 rod limit for the tournament. We set up in 140 FOW just south of the projects. We had 12 rods set when a 5 color went off. We put Katie on the rod for her first Lake Michigan fish. Soon after, a 200 copper took a nice bite and Emerson was on that rod. A few more minutes passed and a downrigger hit with another nice fish biting a meat rig. Delaney, who was planning to net our fish today had to grab the rigger rod which turned out to be a few minute battle with the fish staying straight down then darting straight to the port side wrapping under a wire diver resulting in the fish swimming away with the entire meat rig. Katie ended up with a 10 lb steelhead and Emerson with a 18.5 lb king. We worked that area for most of the morning with 6 total bites and 4 boated (a small king and laker made up the other 2).
